If you are considering a career as an animator, you will be entering a profession that has a good outlook over the next ten years as the entertainments industry takes increasing advantage of the new and different ways of delivering their material. The advent of the Internet and the ability to use it and wireless technology to deliver material means that there is a demand for new materials to deliver. Animation is likely to take a large slice of this new material.

This means that the outlook for job opportunities is good. However there is always fierce competition for jobs in the arts arena, and animation is no different from other areas. Indeed, it is seen as an attractive area to work in, so people with talent and ability want jobs as animators. This means that you need to prepare yourself as well as possible to gain that important first job by maximizing your qualifications and the skills that you learn during your education.

Because of this fierce competition , salaries are not as good as they might otherwise be. However, the salary range is wide according to the US Bureau of Labor, and as you build your reputation for good and talented work, so you will be able to command a higher than average salary. Working in areas of animation for advertising can often be more lucrative than working in films; your salary will reflect the higher and less risky returns that the industry brings.
