If you’re looking into a career in computer networking, know that the outlook is clear and sunny as far as the eye can see. Although high demand has tapered off somewhat, there are always opportunities for those who can beat the competition and take their career in a new direction. Computer networkers who help develop new programs, languages or applications will find themselves breaking new ground for the industry, and could be handsomely rewarded.

According to the US Department of Labor, the average yearly salary of a computer programmer is over $60,000. It is possible to make more as a salaried employee of a software publishing company, doing computer systems design or data processing services. The highest ten percent of computer programmers surveyed made nearly $100,000! College graduates with a bachelor degree in computer science can expect to make $50,000 on a yearly salary, directly out of school.

Clearly computer programming is a lucrative career choice. It is also one that offers a good outlook for those who want to pursue a career that is constantly growing and changing with the technology around it. Employers are always looking for someone who knows the basics like setting up wireless networks, connecting computers, faxes and printers, and data security. But a computer programmer who wants to take their career in new directions by helping to write, develop and forge ahead, now that person would be in demand.
