Choosing to be an educator for your career means you will be joining millions of other teachers who strive to motivate students of all ages to learn new skills and concepts and prepare them for their future. You will be an inspiration to future teachers, doctors, entrepreneurs, politicians, chefs, moms and dads, to name a few.

education career

The field of education includes teaching students from kindergarten through adult. There are many opportunities to specialize, such as becoming a reading specialist, special education teacher, or vocational education teacher.

A career in education may not make you rich, but it is an incredibly rewarding profession.

What educators do

Educators certainly spend much of their time teaching to their students. Teachers also take on other roles such as counselor, team member, role model, and surrogate parent.

There are many other tasks that teachers must do in addition to teaching. These can include attending school meetings, being involved in curriculum and policy issues, leading committees, planning field trips, and communicating with parents.

An important aspect of teaching that enables teachers to teach effectively is classroom management. Firm and fair classroom management creates an environment in which students can learn best.

Teachers spend much of their time planning and creating lessons for their students, implementing the lessons and, of course, assessing student performance. To be successful, teachers must be able to convey information in meaningful ways that are accessible by their students.
