The fundamental aim of a web designer is to create a communication solution in order to promote a client’s brand identity. This means you’re likely to be involved in a project right from initial consultation with the client through to marketing the finished website. Initially, you’ll get a feel for the client’s needs and the target audience and be able to translate ideas into a website concept. You’ll use your knowledge of the technology to ensure the site functions properly. This will include designing navigation elements and laying out the web pages using various web development languages. Then there’s the look and feel of the site to design, deciding on aspects such as graphics, typography, and color. Finally, you’ll be involved in testing the site and giving feedback to the client.
